The channels in Discovery Communications arsenal of networks sometimes rate well and sometime not. In an over-satuated non-fiction programming market, it is hard for the Discovery Channel to get notices next to its relations such as TLC and The Military Channel let alone its non-related competition. In an effort to stand out in the crowd, the Discovery Channel has announced its first scripted series called “Klondike.” Time will tell if it will be as successful as The History Channel’s forey into the land of scripted dramas such as “Hatfields & McCoys” and what that will mean to non-fiction channels as a whole.
