“USA Projects is a program created by United States Artists (USA), a nonprofit grantmaking and artist advocacy organization that has awarded over $17 million to America’s finest artists in the last six years. USA Projects hosts an online community where artists can post projects for funding and connect with those who love and support artists.
At USA Projects, our goal is to help artists successfully navigate the challenging world of online fundraising for their projects. Our expert team provides educational services, from fundraising 101 to case studies and best practices to project development and outreach support. A total of 75% of all artists who have turned to USA Projects have succeeded in funding their projects. USA Projects offers a patent-pending matching fund program, the only one of its kind, which encourages and leverages contributions to help artists succeed faster. All donations are tax deductible because they simultaneously support artists’ projects and the nonprofit mission of United States Artists: to invest in America’s finest artists and to illuminate the value of artists to society.”

“Creation Grants support the creation of new work by Vermont artists. Applicants to this category must demonstrate that the primary component of their proposal is the funding of time, supplies, facilities (rehearsal or studio), etc. for their work. Projects may be at various stages of completion. There must be strong potential for public presentation of the work either during or after the grant period. Wherever possible, projects should strive to stimulate greater public understanding of the art form.
Examples of fundable projects include:
- A writer who wishes to complete the first draft of a novel and will conduct a series of readings of the new work at local libraries, OR
- A dance ensemble that will choreograph a piece to be available wholly or in part for touring to area presenters.”

Read about the Samsung Challenge:
“New York, NY, July 25, 2012 – Samsung Electronics America, a leader in digital media and digital convergence technologies, and the NYTVF, a pioneer of the independent television movement, today announced they will collaborate on a landmark initiative that will provide indie producers and production companies the opportunity to compete for a production budget of $300,000 to create an original short series with accompanying second screen material.
Free the TV Challenge III – “Second Screen Storytellers” is Samsung’s third Free the TV Challenge, following successful competitions in 2010 and 2011. This latest challenge represents the first time Samsung will be working with NYTVF and the indie storytelling community to push the boundaries of the Samsung consumer experience.
The NYTVF will be accepting entries from August 6, 2012 through September 24, 2012. The winning selection will be announced at the 8th annual New York Television Festival, taking place from October 22-27, 2012, in lower Manhattan. “The Africa Channel regularly looks for original lifestyle, documentary and entertainment programming about Africa, shot in Africa and/or focuses on the lives and achievements of native-born Africans; and that provide an African (not African American) perspective. The Africa Channel is NOT currently accepting submissions of scripted programming projects, including sitcoms, dramas or movies. To manage the large influx of submissions and to comply with our legal obligations, we follow strict guidelines.”
Note: The website asks that producers call for more information about submitting. “Please submit your programming ideas to our Production and Programming department. Call 818-655-9977 for more information.”

“The World Cinema Fund works to develop and support cinema in regions with a weak film infrastructure, while fostering cultural diversity in German cinemas. The World Cinema Fundsupports films that could not be made without additional funding: films that stand out with an unconventional aesthetic approach, that tell powerful stories and transmit an authentic image of their cultural roots.
The World Cinema Fund has an annual budget of approximately 400,000 EUR and supports exclusively the production and distribution of feature films and feature-length documentaries. The support is focused on the following regions: Latin America, Central America, the Caribbean, Africa, the Middle East, Central Asia, Southeast Asia and the Caucasus.”

“The new Bertha BRITDOC Fund for Journalism is an international film fund dedicated to supporting long form feature documentaries of a journalistic nature.
We are looking for films that break the important stories of our time, expose injustice, bring attention to unreported issues and cameras into regions previously unseen.
This new fund recognises such films are often delicate and protracted, making them difficult to fund. With a mission to enable in-depth analysis of issues through long-form investigative filmmaking, we are particularly looking to work with filmmakers with a journalistic background or those who are collaborating with journalists.
It is key that the journalistic intent is embedded within the film itself rather than the film simply being about a journalist or journalistic institution.”
