Asian Cinema Fund has three grants for Asian filmmakers

The Asian Cinema Fund is a new initiative that aims to help creative, talented Asian Filmmakers realize their artistic vision. To this end, ACF is extending its support in the following three categories: Script Development Fund, Post-Production Fund and Asian Network of Documentary (AND) fund.

Alter-Cine Foundation offers documentary grants for Africans, Asians and Latin Americans

“Every year, the Alter-Ciné Foundation will award a grant of 10,000  Canadian dollars to a video or filmmaker to assist in the production of a documentary project. The grant is aimed at young video and filmmakers born and living in Africa, Asia or Latin America who want to direct a film in the language of their choice that respects the aims of the Foundation, as explained above.”

Sundance & Sloan Commission partner for science and technology film grants

Sundance/Sloan Commissioning Grant & Fellowship:

“Established in  2005, the Alfred P. Sloan Commissioning Grant is an annual cash award for a  science- or technology-related narrative project that is at an early stage,  such as full treatment or early screenplay draft. This grant also includes a  small stipend for a science advisor to provide support through consultation and  feedback, as well as the possibility of inclusion in a Screenwriters Lab.”

The grant  includes the following:

  • A cash grant of up to $20,000 to provide support during the writing period
  • A stipend of up to $5,000 for a science advisor
  • Creative support during the writing process from a select group of Creative       Advisors
  • The possibility of a Fellowship to a Screenwriters Lab
  • Strategic and practical support from the Feature Film Program staff

ACE Grants for Documentary Films Exploring Animal Rights

The ACE grant competition offer $20,000 for the winning grant for documentaries exploring animal rights issues.  Documentaries can be in any stage and plan to be at least 40-minutes long.

Documentary Completion Grants from San Francisco Film Society

“San Francisco Film Society Announces New $300,000 Documentary Film Fund Supporting Feature-Length Documentaries in Post-production.  The SFFS Documentary Film Fund is created to support singular nonfiction film work that is distinguished by compelling stories, intriguing characters and an innovative visual approach. Each year from 2011 to 2013, a total of $100,000 will be disbursed to further new work by documentary filmmakers nationwide.”

Lynn & Jules Kroll Fund for Jewish Documentary Film Completion Grants

“The Lynn and Jules Kroll Fund for Jewish Documentary Film provides grants for the completion of original documentary films that promote thoughtful consideration of Jewish history, life, culture, and identity.  The Fund was created with a lead grant from Steven
Spielberg’s Righteous Persons Foundation and sustained with major support from the Charles H. Revson Foundation.  The priority of the Fund is to support projects in the latter stages of post-production that address significant subjects; offer fresh, challenging perspectives; engage audiences across cultural lines; and expand the understanding of Jewish experience.”

“The Playboy Foundation is interested in social change documentary film projects that have nationwide impact and scope. Our grants are modest and range from $1000-$5000. For that reason, our film grants are limited to projects in post production and distribution.”
