The Garrett Scott Documentary Grant provides mentoring and film festival accommodations along with other support to emergine documentary filmmmakers.
“This grant funds first time documentary makers for travel and accommodations at the Full Frame Documentary Film Festival, April 4-7, 2013. For four days, grant recipients will be given access to films, participate in master classes and be mentored by experienced filmmakers. Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Film Festival Grant Program

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Film Festival Grant program:

“Festivals with a cash budget of less than $100,000 can apply for a grant of up to 10 percent of their cash budget or $2,500, whichever is higher. Festivals with cash budgets from $100,000 to less than $200,000 can apply for a grant of up to $10,000. Festivals with cash budgets from $200,000 to $600,000 can apply for a grant of up to $20,000. Festivals with cash budgets greater than $600,000 can apply for a grant of up to $30,000. Grants totaling $450,000 were awarded to thirty film festivals in 2011.”

WORLD YOUTH ALLIANCE FILM COMPETITION

“The World Youth Alliance, a global coalition of young people committed to promoting the dignity of the human person, is currently inviting young film directors (under age 30) to submit short films that creatively portray human dignity and authentic accounts of the human experience. WYA welcomes films that represent the triumph of the human spirit, heroic accounts of the individual’s use of freedom, the power of solidarity among people from diverse backgrounds, and other related themes that artfully draw viewers into deeper contemplation of the human condition. Prize: Screening at Manhattan International Film Festival and Private Screening at United Nations. No entry fee.”

Jan Jrijman Fund grants for documentaries and festival in developing world

International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam funds once yearly; the 2012 deadline is in January.  They have supported over 400 projects so far.

“IDFA’s Jan Vrijman Fund supports documentary filmmakers and festivals in developing countries. Its goal is to stimulate local film cultures and to turn the creative documentary into a truly global film art.”

Silverdocs Documentary Film Festival June 2011

Silverdocs has announced the Film Festival and Conference line up for 2011.  This year’s documentary festival will take place between June 20-26 at the AFI theatres in Silver Spring, MD.
